Linkin Park cancels 'One More Light' tour after Chester Bennington's death

Linkin Park Release New Music Video The Same Day Frontman Chester Bennington Dies

Today, Linkin Park announced that they have officially canceled their upcoming tour in the wake of Bennington's death. The Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed Friday that Bennington died by hanging. Elias added that the coroner's department is now conducting a death investigation. Bennington also teamed up with Stone Temple Pilots after Scott Weiland's departure for one EP, "High Rise", in 2013, and performed with the band till 2015. The organist for Dodgers Stadium serenaded the audience with the melody to Linkin Park's "Numb" in tribute to Bennington, the band's frontman who died earlier that day at the age of 41.

And now a clip, recorded earlier this year during an interview Bennington did with website Music Choice, has resurfaced that features a discussion about the inner workings of his mind.

The band won a runaway success with its debut "Hybrid Theory", which became the top-selling album in the United States in 2001. The most recent, "One More Light", arrived in May and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart. "When the band first released their album, I wasn't very keen about them".

Welch expressed frustration at the news of Benninghton's death and Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell's death in May.

The coroner's office said Thursday Bennington's death was being investigated as a possible suicide but few details were disclosed.

Local artist Nina Diaz who fronts the well-known rock outfit Girl in a Coma commented, "I wasn't influenced by him really, but of course respect what he did".

"I was not a fan of rap or metal when I was younger, but Linkin Park's music introduced me to both genres and the world of rock, which accompanied me through my teenage angst", the 25-year-old says.

"Most of my problems are problems that I cause myself", Bennington explained. "Vocal beast! #RIPChester #LinkinPark". My condolences to his family and bandmates in Linkin Park. With songs like In the End, Crawling and One Step Closer encapsulating the rage and sorrow of an entire generation, Chester's voice quickly became the voice of teenagers struggling with their insecurities and identities. Prayers to his family in this tragedy. ♦ One Republic posted, "Oh dear God".

Oh dear God. Massive R.I.P to Chester Bennington of @linkinpark this BREAKS OUR HEART. "Suicide is the devil on earth walking amongst us". I'd like to think you were saying goodbye in your own way. Later, to deal with his parents' divorce, he sought solace in LSD, meth, opium and song-writing, that would eventually make him a household name. Rest In Peace." ♦ Rob Thomas tweeted a photo of Bennington, along with the words, "Song of the day: "NUMB - LINKIN PARK".
